My Reiki Lineages
Reiki can begin getting a bit confusing with all of the different lineages that exist, I know because I was confused about which one to choose. Let me simplify it. If it's called Reiki, all of it originates from Sensei Mikao Usui, the First Reiki Master. Reiki Master Christoper Penczak does a great job of explaining the differences in lineages that I'm going to share with you from his book, Magick of Reiki.
Takata Reiki or "Western Traditional" (Usui Shiki Ryoho in Japanese)
This is the Usui tradition of Master Hayashi and Master Takata. This is the most well-known and practiced for of Reiki in the Western World.
Tibetan Reiki (Raku Kei in Japanese)
This is an addition to the traditional Hayashi-Takata form of Reiki, incorporating "Tibetan" symbols into the system and claiming that Reiki has origins in Tibet. The American Arthur Robertson, a student of one of Mrs. Takata's Master students, Iris Ishikuro, was reportedly the first to add the material to Reiki, creating a style called Raku Kei Reiki. Later, it became the basis of what is known now as the Usui Tibetan tradition.
Lightarian Reiki
Lightarian Reiki is for those Reiki Masters that choose to further their knowledge, practice, and use of etheric light.
